I'm still alive...I've just been hiding in the shadows for the last few months. I have a lots of stuff to catch up on re. fanfic and I'll get to it. To those who's stories I started but never finished, and those who have posted new stories, I have a tonne of story alerts in my email so I will get to them eventually.
And before I forget, I hope you all had a great holiday season and a fantastic New Year! Wishing you all the best for 2008
I am so excited. I picked up my Bones: Season 2 DVD from the Post Office today. That means all night tonight I'm going to be watching the episodes and the extra features on the DVD. I can't wait!

I've been feeling quite inspired with my writing these last few days. I've been a bit quiet on the posting front lately but hopefully this is the end of my slump. I have lots of ideas and plots floating around my head so it will be great if I can get them on paper to be read.
I have a gig in a little over two weeks time, to see The Fray, in Glasgow. I saw them earlier this year but they were just the support band so I'm looking forward to seeing a full show from them - maybe they'll even have some new material.
I'm also planning for Halloween. It's my favourite time of the year (besides Christmas and Easter) and I am really looking forward to baking Halloween treats like pumpkin, ghost, witch and bat shaped cookies and cakes, and decorating my flat with cobwebs, pumpkins, skeletons, bats and skulls. I'm even thinking about purchasing a fake tombstone to put outside my door along with my witches broom and carved pumpkin!
You may think I'm crazy but I also like to dress up for Halloween - nothing too extreme, but it's fun, especially to see the look on my collagues faces. Last year I dressed as the Devil. This year I'm leaning towards a bat but I never decide until nearer the time. Unfortunately, this year halloween is on a wednesday so its not ideal for a party but I'm hoping to have some friends over for some drinks and scary movies - its the only time of year I watch them.
Anyway, now that I've scared everyone away, I'll take my leave and go see what's happening on FF.net. Til next time!

As for the training course, its a 3 day residential course which means I get to spent 2 nights in a hotel, all expenses paid! There is a group of us from my office going and we're all around the same age so we should have a lot of fun in the evenings. I'm not so sure the course itself will be so much fun - I mean how interesting can Compost be???
So there's your catch-up - not much, I know. But that's life and it can't always be as exciting as an episode of Bones!
And because it is the most awesome music video I have seen in ages, here's the video for the Foo Fighters new single, The Pretender.

So it seems to have been a long time since I posted here. Not much has happened in the last couple of weeks except I got sick and took a few days off work, I got tickets to see the Foo Fighters in November and I'm currently suffering an extreme case of writers block. I have a bunch of stuff I'm working on but it has all come to a shuddering halt. This happens every once in a while and I'm sure it will pass soon - it's just frustrating. I have some scehduled time off work this week so I'm hoping I can sit down and has out some stories to get past this block I have. I miss posting on Bones at FF.net and I hope to have something to post really soon, namely my NJC entry. I can hardly miss submitting a story for my own challenge! Lets hope musie co-operates and inspiration hits in the next few days. Wish me luck

My holiday from work is coming to an end which means tomorrow morning I have to drag my butt out of bed at an ungodly hour and go back to the hum drum life of a Council employee. I've had two weeks of lazy days, reading and writing fan fiction, a trip to London, and watching bad afternoon movies on TV. How I'll miss that life when I'm stuck behind a desk.
The good news is I have lots of new music to listen to when driving to work (and at my desk when its quiet and the boss isn't around). That should brighten my days a little until the weekend comes again.

I took a trip on the London Eye - went in a 'capsule' on the giant wheel and had a 360 degree view of London on a bright, sunny and clear day. I went nice and early in the morning so I didn't have to wait in any queues - I'm a bit impatient lol.
I also visited the Tower of London where I learned the history of the towers (lots of blood, gore, hangings and murders).
I did a lot of walking, just wandering around the city centre seeing the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square etc. It was in Leicester Square that me and my friends got tickets to see the Lord Of The Rings stage show. Can I just state - AWESOME! Truly an amazing show, and this is coming from someone who has never had any interest in the Lord of the Rings before (haven't read the books or seen the movies) If you ever get the chance to see it, I would highly recommend going - there was fantastic staging, creative costumes and a bit of humor just to keep us all entertained.
I didn't do very much shopping - mainly because this was supposed to be a budget trip (cheap train fare and free accomodation with relatives). I did buy a few bits and pieces and some souveniers though (because you have to when you're on holiday). I confess to buying a few things in Harrods - no, not the £5000 handbag I saw, but some tea and coffee in Harrods jars (Hey, I said this was a budget holiday!).
My favourite part of the whole trip was my visit to the London Dungeon. I love scary things like that, even though I can't sit through horror movies. Inside the Dungeon, you are led around in a group by various staff dressed up in period costumes. They tell you gruesome tales with lots of visuals and scare you by jumping out from nowhere. I screamed a few times. But my biggest scream came on the ride at the end. The Dungeon has a new ride that simulates being hanged - you sit on these seats and are raised up to the ceiling, then, when you least expect it, you drop freefall before screeching to a halt just before you hit the ground! I screamed my head off (and left my stomach on the ceiling). Again, if you are ever in London, pay the Dungeon a visit!
And that pretty much brings me back to the present and I'm now back home catching up on everthing that has been going on since I left. I have a thousand (well maybe not quite that many) reviews to write, mostly for the NJC. I also have a lot of stories to catch up on,
Right, its early in the day so I'm going to try and be productive - need to wash all those clothes I took with me on holiday and get some food into my flat, or I'll turn into a bunch of bones that only Bones can identify lol.

So I'm off on holiday tomorrow morning! Kinda excited, kinda nervous at the same time - I'm always a little nervous when I travel. It'll be strange to be away from my computer for nearly a week. I wonder if I'll get withdrawal symptoms???
Anyway, I'll be out of touch til Wednesday next week - unless I get lost on the underground in which case you might never hear from me again!
If I make it back, I'll hopefully have lots of fun tales to share with you so until then I bid you farewell.

Wow, if having some time off work gives me this much inspiration then I'm taking a permanent vacation! My first offical day off work and I already have two new story ideas floating around my head. But since I'm off to London in a couple of days for a little holiday, those stories will just have to wait to be written.
Speaking of London, I went to see my uncle today (he's up here redecorating a house) and he gave me a set of keys for his house in London and detailed directions to get there from Kings Cross station. I've travelled all over the world but no city and its transportation system scares me as much as London. There are so many tube lines, changes to take and ways I could get lost - I'm kinda nervous. If you don't hear from me by Wednesday next week - send out the search parties - I'm lost in London!!

I usually find that cover versions of songs are weaker than the original but I think this is one of those rare ocassions when a band actually improves a song when they perform it in their style.

So the response to Sunflower Lily Productions first collaboration - "Big Guns" seems to have gone down well. Reviews are in and the general consensus is that it made people laugh, it stayed in character and was a fun piece. If you haven't already checked out the story, the link is below.

Back in the real world, I had a great day at work. I was editing some documents and was able to stay plugged into my ipod listening to great music all day long. Now I'm home and catching up on my FF.net reading. I've been kinda busy with writing lately so I'm trying to get to all those new stories and updates.
Til next time...

I had an interesting day at work today - I managed to be there for 9 hours and not do any work at all lol. A lot of people were out of the office so I managed to make it look like I was working when I wasn't, and not get into trouble. Then later I took some new starts on a tour of our building to meet all the staff and managed to drag that out for 2 hours! I'm so bad....but I hate Mondays and never feel like doing any work. Fortunately my workload has been pretty light the last week so I wasn't ignoring anything that urgently needed done (I'd feel too guilty if that were the case).
Right now I'm at home relaxing and watching some bad television. Seriously - these stations need to get some decent shows on them!

So I was out to dinner with my family last night for my dad's birthday. We started off at a bar where I had an amazing drink. It was a raspberry and pear mojito (mojitos are like my favourite drink at the moment). Then we went to this fancy restaurant called Oloroso. it has an amazing balcony that you can go out on to see some stunning views of the city.
I had Foie Gras Terrine as a starter followed by a fillet steak with these munchiliscious chunky chips and grilled tomatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection and was, I think, the best steak I have ever had. I was so stuffed I couldn't eat desert (but that was okay because they didn't have a decent chocolate desert on tbe menu anyway) so I just had a pot of fruit tea. It was called Orange Dulce and it tasted of oranges, vanilla and berries. I don't often drink fruity teas but this one just sounded really good and it was :)
It was a really nice night out but I don't think I could go to restaurants like that very often. I feel a little uncomfortable being fussed over by the wait staff like they do in these types of restaurants. I'm much more at home in a pub and a regular restaruant where you have to yell across the room to get someone to come take your order. But still, I'll never turn down a free meal like the one I had last night!

I have some relatives who live there as well as a close friend from University so I'm looking forward to catching up with them all - and that also means I have free accomodation with them so I have more money to go out and do things :)

I have been having an exciting week though. I've been working with niah1988 on a livejournal community for our partnership, Sunflower Lily Productions. Hopefully we'll be fully operational and posting on the site soon - just need to work out the details before we let it loose on the unsuspecting world.
I'm going to go watch some crap TV now since there is nothing good on (as usual) and I'm not going out tonight (does anyone else see the giant LOSER sign flashing above my head???).
Catch you on the flip side!
